Accio Friday night plans!
If you're a fan of Hogwarts, escape rooms, or just a generally fun night out with friends, you're in for some good news.
According to HelloGiggles, a themed escape room in Michigan is opening a Harry Potter themed room.
Starting in August, Escape Room Novi will add Harry Potter to its other themes: jungle, pirate, diner and asylum. In our opinion,'The School of Magic' room will definitely be the best theme.
Escape rooms are physical adventure games where groups of people have to solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints and strategies to get out of whatever room they're in. You generally have some sort of time limit (60 minutes is the common amount of time) where you have to escape, otherwise you lose the game. Can you say 'expecto patronum'?
We're guessing that people are really going to go all out for the Harry Potter theme, with outfits (cloaks and wands and fake eyeglasses, oh my!), fun facts and punny comments up their sleeves. Because seriously, what is more fun than having an excuse to throw out that obscure enchantment that no one else remembers? Who doesn't love a casual reference to Gillyweed as an escape route?
In other words, if you actually don't love it, stay away from this room.
Seasoned escape room-ers will likely be planning for a pretty intense challenge with this one. Think about it, there are over seven full novels of plot twists, horcruxes and curses to choose from. (Side note, who comes up with these games, and can we apply for that job?)
For those looking to make a quick lil' trip to Michigan to play in the Harry Potter escape room, here's the info you need: it's $25/person, you have to be over 16 years old, and anywhere between 2 and 8 people can go into the room at once. We highly suggest bringing friends who aced their OWLS and come from each of the Houses; you don't want to miss out on that piece of Hufflepuff trivia that no one paid attention to in the third book...
Between now and August, there's just enough time for you re-read each of the books and take notes. Get crackin'!
