This is so FETCH, you guys! All my mean girls out there, have you heard? Author Micol Ostow is turning Tina Fey's 2004 cult-classic Mean Girls into a YA novel. The new adaptation, called Mean Girls: A Novel, will be available for purchase THIS September!
Entertainment Weekly dished all the exclusive details on the novel's release, including an excerpt of the first few pages, and it looks like things will follow the original screenplay pretty closely. The cool part? Each chapter will feature a different character's perspective. So we can obviously count on a chapter from the Queen, Regina George, and the rest of The Plastics. We know, right?! It'll be like leaving the actual world and entering Girl World!
We think that Gretchen's father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be pleased to hear about this.
We can only hope that this opens the door to other Mean Girls projects. Teen Vogue has already spilled the deets on a Broadway musical based on the film, which is set to premiere on October 31. Plus, Cady Heron, herself, has been pushing for a sequel.
