Everything’s better down where it's wetter, take it from me!
The live-action film “The Little Mermaid” just dropped its first trailer, and fans of the Disney film (or anyone who gets excited about half-girl half-fishes) are going to absolutely love it!
Now, before the ‘90s kids get too excited, this is not a remake of the original animated feature. Instead, this film is based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson. The trailer makes it abundantly obvious that this is a completely different story -- all the Sebastian references I was planning on making don’t really work now – but that doesn’t make the story any less magical.
The film will feature William Mosely (Peter from the Narnia movies) as a reporter sent to investigate rumors of a mermaid in Mississippi. He brings his young sister along for the trip, and apparently she’s got the heart of a mermaid. Which sounds both weird and awesome.
There’ll also be a sorcerer and curses and fight scenes, because what’s a mermaid movie without magic? Get hyped for this new flick by checking out the trailer below – the film is expected to release in late 2017:
