This 'Walking Dead' Star Was Bullied Off Social Media
@TheWalkingDeadAMC

One Walking Dead star had to put social media on the back burner after he received one too many death threats over how his character acted during the show's seventh season. Yeah, bullied for the character he played. People are so wrong!

Fans of the show have definitely had a love/hate relationship with Josh McDermitt's Eugene from the start. He said he knew some major things, but it turned out he was basically as useful as Ray-Bans at midnight. Then we liked him because while he wasn't the most social of the bunch, he had a heart and actually did come in handy when he figured out how to make bullets. Fast forward to the Negan-era, post-Glenn's horrendous death and Rosita going all V for Vendetta, and Eugene was horrible again. Yeah, he gave Sasha a way out, but he was all for being a part of Negan's army of psychopaths.

When you're part of Rick's crew you are a team, and Eugene strayed from that the second he could. This pissed off a lot of fans, so much so that the dude behind Eugene suffered the most. Josh McDermitt is just an actor playing a role, but some fans don't see it like that. They took Eugene's change of pace so seriously that they started to harass McDermitt online.

All the guy wants is for fans to realize that he is NOT Eugene. Eugene doesn't really exist. He said on Facebook Live, "Don’t send me death threats. I’m just sick of it. You can hate Eugene, I don’t care. You can think whatever you want, but when you start saying you hope I die, I don’t know if you’re talking about Josh or Eugene."

The harassment got so bad, Josh had to delete himself from the online world in order to stay sane!

We get it, The Walking Dead is something we're very enthralled by and after hours of binging you can start to lose track of reality but at the end of the day it's just a show. Josh isn't a selfish dude who turned his back as soon as he knew he had a safe way out, just like Steven Yuen (Glen) didn't really have his face bashed in. Nope, he's alive.

Sometimes the fandom is awesome and we love being crazy obsessed just as much as you, but sometimes you gotta take a step back, pop in a chill pill and calm it down.
